Shipping Clerk & Delivery Driver

Job Summary:

This person is an integral part of the success of CalfCare. The person will have responsibilities in shipping and deliveries. This individual will be responsible for accurately preparing orders for shipments, accepting incoming shipments, and helping oversee the general organization of the warehouse. They will also be responsible for delivery duties which involve dropping off orders for CalfCare clients. They may also be asked to pick up orders from manufacturers in that day’s route area. The Shipping Clerk & Delivery Driver will report to the Shipping & Warehouse manager. They will serve as a source of direct contact with our clients and will be representing CalfCare. This role operates in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment where adaptability and clear communication are essential. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, dependable, and capable of working independently while collaborating with internal teams such as other warehouse staff, Delivery Drivers, and the Warehouse & Shipping Manager.

Duties, may include but not limited to:

  • Work in conjunction with the CalfCare team to fulfill client orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Operate and conduct themselves in a professional manner as they represent CalfCare and the company values as they will have direct contact with clientele during delivery routes.
  • Shipping duties:
  • Receives goods and verify the quality and count of all items received; checks against suppliers counts and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers, supervisor, and purchasing manager per company policy.
  • Restocks supplies and inventory. Communicate with Purchasing Manager on product inventory needs.
  • Maintains warehouse and shipment accuracy physically and with NetSuite to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to the clients as required.
  • Transports materials in warehouse By hand, or with the assistance of a hand truck or other vehicle as needed. Loads and unload trucks using a forklift, after completion of certification.
  • Deliveries:
  • Plans and complete an efficient delivery and pick up route for the day. Loads delivery vehicle with parcels scheduled for delivery.
  • Delivers parcels to correct addresses, obtaining signatures and proof of receipt when necessary. Picks up parcels along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested.
  • Communicates with Fleet Services about basic service needs and mechanical issues. Maintains basic records of truck mileage and deliveries made.
  • Assists in general warehouse duties when delivery route is completed.
  • Be the primary driver for certain routes, including participation in a route requiring an overnight stay once a month.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Must be able to drive in all weather conditions.
  • Safe operation of varying vehicles, including crossover, cargo vans, and pickup trucks with or without trailers.
  • Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps to plan delivery routes.
  • Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
  • Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
  • Able to remain professional and courteous at all times.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to load and unload packages without assistance.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work and drive in all weather conditions.
