Who we are:

We are a growing veterinary practice that specializes in calves and cattle. Our clients produce dairy & dairy cross feeder calves, dairy replacement heifers, and dairy & beef fat cattle. We focus on preventative medicine through design of vaccine protocols, diagnostic services, management consultation, contract research and development, as well as providing the supplies necessary for our clients to be successful and profitable.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an associate veterinarian to join our growing, busy, cattle-only practice. Currently our team includes four doctors, two registered vet nurses, and several support staff. We are a consulting practice with the primary duty of helping our clients be successful in raising healthy, productive calves using good management practices and judicious use of vaccines and medications. Each veterinarian rotates for an office day of emergency calls during the week. We strive to stay on the cutting edge of technology. Our practice has an ultrasound available for TUS. We routinely run bacterial cultures and identify in house to get answers quickly for our clients.

In addition to client consultation, CalfCare conducts contract research trials and generates calves for research companies. We have a research facility that houses calves involved in research trials. Candidates need to be eager to learn and keep learning. Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Candidates must have a strong background or interest in bovine population medicine, pathology, immunology, animal husbandry and scientific inquiry. They need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and driven to be a collaborative team member.

Duties, may include but not limited to:

  • Create And Evaluate Protocols

Requirements:

  • USDA accredited
  • Licensed, or ability to be, in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, or Kentucky
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Clean Driving record
  • Ability to, occasionally, work overnight and weekends

  • CalfCare is located in North Manchester, Indiana. We are 45 minutes from Fort Wayne and 2 hours from Indianapolis. North Manchester and surrounding areas are rural yet home to several universities. You can have the small-town atmosphere with local attractions and be just a short drive from larger cities with the many attractions they host.
