Dr. Jan Gawthrop Both founder and veterinarian, Dr. Gawthrop’s primary goal is coaching clients in good husbandry and management to prevent disease and poor performance. Dr. Gawthrop grew up on a dairy and poultry farm in Etna Green, Indiana. Dr. Gawthrop graduated from Purdue University in 1975 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and has never stopped learning. Dr. Gawthrop is licensed in five states. He continues to seek out smarter ways to raise calves by offering contract research services. Dr. Gawthrop has lectured in Belgium, Costa Rica, Canada, New Zealand and across the United States. He states his greatest accomplishment is that great livestock producers continue to involve him in their operations. When he is not visiting clients or caring for calves, he enjoys spending time with his wife, children and six grandchildren, tending to his dahlias, and working in his garden. Dr. Gawthrop enjoys sharing his beautiful dahlias with those that cannot spend time in the garden. Dr. Gawthrop is active in his community, sharing his passion with 4H members and school groups, as well as serving on advisory boards and is a member of AABP, AVMA and AVC.
